This depends on what religion you follow, traditionally in christianity, accorinding to the bible a bride would wear white to symbolise purity and virginity when she offers unon with her husband to be. These days however the tradition of a white dress is carried on, but ir rarely worn because the bride is a virgin, mostly the bride is no longer a virgin but still dreams of her big white wedding, you should do what you feel comfortable with, again depends on your religion and beliefs. However if you want something light and decide against white go for ivory, an off white colour, also very popular these days. I am not religious myself, and not a virgin, but Prom Jurken when i marry my fiance i do want a white dress. good luck x
Above some people have said that it was Queen Victoria, who started wearing a white wedding dress, Trouwjurken Met Kant so it was not originally because it symbolised purity, which is correct. However, within many religions, the colour white itself symbolises purity and innocence, for example, in the bible there is a scripture saying that we are washed as white as snow by the blood of the lamb. So perhaps this Feest Jurken can be translated to the colour dress you wear.
